Obesity is a medical condition in which excess body fat has accumulated to the extent that it may have a negative effect on health.

Obesity is most commonly caused by a combination of excessive food intake, lack of physical activity, and genetic susceptibility. A few cases are caused primarily by genes, endocrine disorders, medications, or mental illness. The view that obese people eat little yet gain weight due to a slow metabolism is not generally supported. On average, obese people have greater energy expenditure than their thin counterparts due to the energy required to maintain an increased body mass.

Now a day’s people are facing so many health problems like knee pains, blood pressure, cancer, infertility, heart diseases, back pain and diabetics because of this overweight or obesity. Obesity is a condition where a person has accumulated so much body fat that it might have a negative effect on their health. These days’ people are eating much more food than in previous generations. With the arrival of televisions, computers, video games, remote controls, washing machines, dish washers and other modern convenience devices, people are commonly are leading a much more sedentary lifestyle compared to their parents and grandparents. Children who have a television in their bedroom are much more likely to be obese or overweight than kids who do not. Lack of sleep also one of the cause of obesity, if you do not sleep enough your risk of becoming obese doubles and poorly balanced diets and the lack of physical exercise are key factors in the increase of obesity and other metabolic diseases in modern societies. Smoking is also one of the main reasons for obesity, among people who do; the average weight gain is between 6 and 8 pounds. Roughly 10 percent of people who stop smoking gain a large amount of weight 30 pounds or more.  If a person’s bodyweight is at least 20% higher than it should be, he or she is considered obese. If your Body Mass Index (BMI) is between 25 and 29.9 you are considered overweight. If your BMI is 30 or over you are considered obese.

Obesity is mostly preventable through a combination of social changes and personal choices like Changes to diet and exercising are the main treatments. Diet quality can be improved by reducing the consumption of energy-dense foods, such as those high in fat and sugars, and by increasing the intake of dietary fiber. We should maintain clinical indicators and follow these useful weight loss or obesity tips:

  1. Change our Eating Habits
  2. Exercise Regularly
  3. Quit Eating Processed Foods like pizzas, burgers and fried foods.
  4. Try Natural Herbs.
  5. Daily Yoga and meditation

If diet, exercise and medication are not effective, a gastric balloon or surgery may be performed to reduce stomach volume or bowel length, leading to feeling full earlier or a reduced ability to absorb nutrients from food.
